THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
“The Ten Commandments,” a biblical epic, is known for its grand scale and stunning visuals. However, the film takes several liberties with historical accuracy, particularly in its costume design. One notable error is the use of lacy underwire bras, which are visible beneath the actresses’ dresses. Additionally, the vivid blue dress worn by Anne Baxter’s character, Nefertiti, would have been impossible to create with the dyes available during biblical times.
Another mistake in “The Ten Commandments” involves the use of dummies in certain scenes. In one instance, a dummy is used to represent Rameses’ son, but the plastic hair and eyes are clearly visible, breaking the illusion. Despite these errors, the film remains a cinematic classic, celebrated for its ambitious storytelling and memorable performances. These mistakes serve as a reminder of the challenges filmmakers face when recreating ancient history.
