Wendy Williams made a name for herself as the “Queen of Radio” long before she became a daytime television star. From 1986 to 2009, she dominated the airwaves, starting her career at WVIS, a reggae and calypso-oriented station in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Dissatisfied with the low pay and lack of learning opportunities, she sent demo tapes to other stations, eventually landing her big break at WRKS. Williams went on to enjoy a highly successful career in broadcasting, later transitioning into television with The Wendy Williams Show.
