Joanne Linville
In 2025, Joanne Linville, at the age of 93, is an American actress who made a significant impact on television from the 1950s to the 1980s. Before embarking on her acting career, she worked as a surgeon’s assistant. To support herself while studying acting, she also took on the role of a professional dancer. Linville studied under the renowned Stella Adler and was granted permission to use Adler’s name to establish the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in Los Angeles.
This studio proved to be an excellent investment for Linville. Over the years, it has produced many notable alumni, including Henry Winkler, Warren Beatty, and Robert De Niro, among others. As an actress, Linville has appeared in several critically acclaimed motion pictures, such as A Star is Born, The Goddess, and Gable and Lombard. In 2011, she shared her expertise in acting by writing a book titled Joanne Linville’s Seven Steps to an Acting Craft. Even at her age, Linville’s contributions to both the acting profession and the training of future actors continue to be highly regarded.
