The Shawshank Redemption actor Morgan Freeman reportedly owns a sprawling ranch in Mississippi, part of which he has transformed into a sanctuary for bees. While it might seem surprising that an actor as influential and accomplished as Freeman would choose a simpler life in the countryside, his estate is far from ordinary.
The property spans 24 acres, and Freeman’s decision to dedicate a portion of it to beekeeping stems from his concern over the declining bee populations in the country. In a 2014 interview with Jimmy Fallon, Freeman revealed his deep interest in bees and their preservation. To support his mission, he imported 26 beehives from Arkansas and established them on his ranch, highlighting his commitment to environmental causes beyond his celebrated acting career.
